What this site stores in your browser, why, and how you stay in control.
Please review before publishing. This policy reflects how the site is actually set up: analytics cookies are switched off until you accept them, in line with the Irish ePrivacy Regulations (S.I. 336 of 2011) and the Data Protection Commission's guidance on cookies.
Last updated: 24 August 2026.
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work; others are optional and help the owner understand how the site is used. Similar technologies, such as a browser's local storage, work the same way and are covered here too.
We keep this simple. We do not use any advertising or tracking cookies. The only optional cookies on this site are for Google Analytics, and they stay switched off unless you choose "Accept analytics" in the banner that appears when you first visit. Until then, no analytics cookies are set.
These make the site work and remember your choices. They do not track you and cannot be switched off.
| Stored item | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Your cookie choice | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we don't ask again | Until you clear it |
| Chat assistant (Clara) | Keeps your place in a chat conversation as you move between pages | The chat session |
These load only after you accept. They are provided by Google Analytics 4 and tell us, in aggregate, which pages are visited and how people find the site. We have IP anonymisation switched on.
| Cookie | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes one visitor from another | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<id> |
Keeps analytics session state | Up to 2 years |
If you decline, these are never set. If you accept and later change your mind, you can withdraw at any time (see below).
You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page — that reopens the banner. You can also delete cookies through your own browser settings, and set your browser to block them. Blocking the necessary items may mean the site remembers less about your visit.
How we handle any personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. For general guidance on cookies and your rights, see the Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie.
